Meet the Artists | Lunchtime Talks at the Fitzwilliam Museum

The Meet the Artists series offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from contemporary artists featured in Rise Up. These informal talks provide insight into their creative processes, the themes explored in their work, and their personal journeys as artists.

Each session runs from 1–2pm and includes a Q&A where audiences can ask questions and delve deeper into the artworks on display.

Rise Up Listening Salons: Exploring Resistance and Identity

The Rise Up Listening Salons take a deeper look at the themes of the exhibition, offering space for open and honest discussions. Co-facilitated by guests from the London-based creative space Ruby Cruel, these sessions explore how resistance manifests in everyday life, reflecting on histories of oppression and the resilience of marginalised communities.

Each session is led by a special guest, who will share their perspectives and experiences, sparking discussion with the audience.

📅 Upcoming Sessions:

  • 8 April – with Nicole-Rachelle Moore, published author and British Library’s Curator of Caribbean Collections. She will explore how Caribbean histories are preserved and presented in national archives, and why these stories matter today.
  • 15 April – with Lisa-Marie Harris, a contemporary artist from Trinidad and Tobago based in London. She will discuss how art can be used to challenge historical narratives and create new spaces for representation.
