As we prepare to launch Black History Month Magazine 2025, we are calling on organisations, institutions, community leaders and allies to help us share this year’s message far and wide by ordering copies for your events, workplaces, schools, and communities.
This year’s theme, “Standing Firm in Power and Pride,” is a powerful tribute to the resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment to progress that defines Black communities across the globe. It celebrates the profound contributions of Black leaders, activists, artists and pioneers — while urging us all to stand tall in our own identity and purpose.
A Word from Our Editor, Cherron Inko-Tariah MBE
“The theme for Black History Month UK 2025 highlights two core values: power and pride. Power represents influence, leadership, and the collective strength that drives change. Pride celebrates identity, culture, and the enduring excellence within Black communities. This edition of the magazine will honour key anniversaries including the 60th anniversary of the Race Relations Act, the death of Malcolm X, and the Bristol Bus Boycott led by the late Paul Stephenson. These are not just moments to remember, but calls to action. Let us honour those who came before us by continuing the work — unapologetically and together.”
Why Your Support Matters
To ensure the magazine remains free and accessible to as many people as possible, we continue to distribute through ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, public libraries, universities, community centres and Black History Month events. However, with rising production and delivery costs, we are inviting organisations to support our mission by purchasing copies in bulk.
Every box purchased helps us:
- Maintain free access in schools, libraries, youth groups and community organisations
- Elevate voices, stories, and histories that are often underrepresented
- Celebrate and amplify the theme “Standing Firm in Power and Pride” with the respect and reach it deserves
What’s Inside the 2025 Edition?
- Insightful features exploring identity, legacy and empowerment
- Interviews with Black British pioneers across politics, business, the arts and education
- Historical retrospectives and reflections on key civil rights milestones
- Cultural spotlights on literature, music, fashion and visual art
- Contributions from community leaders and young voices shaping the future
This year’s magazine will challenge us to break down barriers, reclaim our narratives, and step into the future with confidence.
