Victor Richards presents “Streets Paved with Gold”. The performance is entitled Streets Paved With Gold. A completely engaging and enlightening journey into the challenges and experiences of those who came before us.
On Saturday 19 November there will also be a viewing of he award-winning Streets Paved With Gold music/poetry video narrated by Victor at the start of the evening – so please arrive early so you don’t miss it.
The Story covers some of Sixty years of British West Indian life captured in one-man play by the acclaimed performance artist and writer Victor Richards immersing you into a Return to the Caribbean & experiences of first generation settlers in Britain. From Teddy Boys’ racial violence to the cool soul and reggae, the Blues MCs and dancehalls.
Victor Richars, the London Born, Leicester bred son of Barbadian parents, came to Britain in the 50s is an actor, writer, poet and storyteller. Victor has been perfectly positioned throughout his life to observe and commentate on the trials and tribulations, joys and sorrows of British West Indian culture for seven decades.
His One Man Windrush Production ‘Streets Paved with Gold’ is a successful long running theatre play and 2021 marked the 25th Anniversary touring in the UK and Internationally. Now this play has been turned into a feature film, due for release in 2023. Recognition for Victor’s work has earned him a BEFTA Legend Award 2018, British Urban Film Festival (nomination), and the Windrush Achievement Award 1997 (finalist).
