BHM 2022: The life of music trailblazer Sonny Roberts

Join us On Thursday 13th October with Cleon Roberts for a special talk on the life of her father, trailblazing music producer and pioneer, Sonny Roberts

In 1958, Sonny Roberts left his native Jamaica, to travel by passenger ship to London. Come along to find out how Sonny went from entertaining wedding guests with his sound system, Lavender, to founding Planetone, the first black owned recording studio in Britain. Sonny went on to produce many firsts, as well as creating hit records for UB40 and Judy Boucher.

 

Join us to hear Cleon Roberts talk about her father’s life, with music, videos and record sleeves to bring his great legacy to life.
