Reclaiming Narratives: Community Stories Screening

Thursday 31 October

In line with this year’s national Black History Month, the theme of Our Version Media’s community stories screening is “Reclaiming Narratives”.

Join us for an evening showcasing and celebrating stories from Hampshire’s African, Caribbean, and Black British communities. Each story is told by the individuals themselves through mobile video, created after learning how to film and edit using a smartphone during Our Version Media’s Mobile Storytelling course.

Watch their short stories, made-using-mobile, on the big screen. Each “Reclaiming Narratives” story will challenge a negative racial stereotype head-on.

Be part of an evening of real stories, by real people. With Our Version Media’s campaign to tackle negative media stereotypes gaining increasing traction across the UK, this event will highlight the importance of community-led, authentic content creation and storytelling.

We are honoured to have keynote speaker Cherron Inko-Tariah MBE, editor of the UK’s Black History Month magazine, joining us for this special event.

There will be a 30 minute reception before the screening.
