The Windrush Trades Person Project

Wednesday 6 October 2021

Join us this evening in reminiscence and celebration of the Trades People of the Windrush generation, and their descendants.

As we launch a new exciting educational resource for the whole community, containing stories of why and how people entered their trade, that also displays pictures of their creations, showcasing their talents and skills.

The Windrush Trades People Project’s focus on work, especially practical trades, explores the tangible contribution of the Windrush Generation to Britain and celebrates them and their descendants as an integral part of the social fabric of British society. The project involved those who came to the UK from the Caribbean to pursue a particular trade, and the children of those who migrated who are interested in working in a trade. The project used items from the represented trade to stimulate memory, discussion, and to document experiences and capture their legacy. All welcome.
