Stories from Windrush: A Multimedia Celebration feat. Windrush Foundation a

A multimedia celebration to commemorate Windrush Day 2021, featuring Windrush Foundation Director and performances from Alexander D Great

The Civil Service Race Forum, in collaboration with the MHCLG BAMENet, BEIS Faith and Minority Network and DfT Black Staff and Allies Network are pleased to present our joint event to celebrate Windrush Day 2021.

The event celebrates the Caribbean men and women who arrived in Britain on 22 June 1948 on the ship Empire Windrush, and other settlers who contributed to the rebuilding of the UK after World War II. Windrush Day was given national importance by the British government in June 2018 to celebrate their contributions to Britain’s prosperity and modernity.

This event will bring together colleagues across government to learn more about the history behind Windrush: who were the Windrush generation, why did they come to the UK, and how have they and their descendants contributed to wider UK society? Join us for stories and reflections from the Windrush Foundation, including a poem and calypso performance by Alexander D Great.

We would like to thank MHCLG BAMENet in particular for their sponsorship of this event.

his event is open to all colleagues working in government departments, agencies, arms-length bodies and partner organisations and will take place via MS Teams Live (if your department does not allow access, we recommend that you join from a personal device).
