A short workshop that surveys the work of Jazz Master Miles Davis and the way that he changed music
I am thrilled to invite you to a virtual workshop on Miles Davis for my series How to Listen To Music. This is for anyone who wants to learn to hear with musician ears; everything from the details of form, rhythm, and harmony, to the color and aroma of spirit and intent. My goal is for you all to enjoy music more by showing you how to hear more of what is there.
Miles Davis is a seminal figure in 20th Century Music. He changed the course of music and culture several times in his career and mentored several generations of legends including John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams, Ron Carter, John McLaughlin, Keith Jarrett, Marcus Miller (Bass). We will be taking a dive into some of the history of him and his music, which will serve to acquaint you with his various styles and periods and educate you about music history. Hope that you can come!
