Black Sheroes Month: Exploring Black British women’s identity
Wednesday 27 October 2021
In this workshop, led by artist Rachelle Romeo, participants will explore the identity and experiences of the Black British woman through collage and assemblage.
Black women are often overlooked in our society due to a lack of education about intersectionality.
How do Black women navigate being British when visually they do not blend into society like their white counterparts and when they often face barriers that differ to other women of colour?
Together, we will explore stereotypes and hold them up against the truths of herstory, expressing our ideas through words and images.
All Black British women and allies are welcome to join, to express themselves and to learn in a trauma-free, creative environment.
