It’s bookended by two visually evocative pieces. Rachmaninov said of his beautiful Études-Tableaux, No. 5 that the listener should “paint for themselves what it most suggests” whilst Debussy’s ‘prints’ portray more precise images of an exotic journey from the Far East to a French garden, via Spain.
