The second of our Edinburgh Fringe preview evenings concludes with Sophie Duker and Susan Riddell.
Sophie Duker
Sophie Duker is a comedian and writer whose favourite things include breaking hearts, taking names and telling jokes with the confidence of a cis straight middle-class white man. Her Edinburgh Fringe Show, Venus, saw her nominated for the Best Newcomer award and gained critical acclaim and five star reviews, leading to a two week sold out run at Soho Theatre.
Sophie is a regular guest on Frankie Boyle’s New World Order (BBC2). She has appeared on Live at The Apollo (BBC2), Mock the Week (BBC2), 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4) and Hypothetical (Dave). Sophie is the winner of the 13th series of Taskmaster (Channel 4).
Susan Riddell
Susan Riddell’s career has already seen her nominated for Best Scottish Newcomer Nominee, alongside being a Funny Women Runner Up.
The rising star’s astute observations and sparkling wit have already been highlighted as a Must Watch Show at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival (The Scotsman). After winning a place in BBC Writer’s Room Fast and Funny, Susan has gone on to be widely regarded as one of the rising stars of Scottish comedy. With regular appearances on BBC Radio Scotland’s Breaking the News and The Comedy Underground as well as the BBC sketch show The State of It. Susan wrote, created and starred in several on-line comedy sketches for BBC Short Stuff which have garnered nearly 3 million views and counting. Other writing credits and acting roles include Channel 4 and BBC One’s spoof cop show Scot Squad, while she is currently working on a sitcom pilot with the BBC.
