Teakisi Woman Talk

Thu, 10 October 2019 13:00 – 17:00

A Black History Month talk session, focusing on a conversation around changing the narrative of African women.

FREE EVENT – OPEN TO GENERAL PUBLIC

Teakisi is happy to announce its first Teakisi Woman Talk event, scheduled to take place in October, which is also the Black History Month.

Even though we are in the 21st century, African women are time and time again portrayed negatively in the media. Teakisi believes that a positive or true depiction of what African women really are, can help a lot of girls and women to become more ambitious and empowered. The aim of the event is to encourage a conversation with the general public on changing the narrative of African women. Additionally, as African women, it is important that we are left to tell our own stories, because our collective voices matter too!

What’s more, the event aims to;

*Empower through informative speeches, talks, spoken word, drama, conversations and networking.

*Celebrate the culture and heritage of Africa, BME communities, and people of African descent.

*Learn from each other while sharing life experiences.

*The hashtag for this event is #TeakisiTalk19

*If you are an individual, business or organisations, and would like to exhibit your work or services, please see the ad-on when you purchase a ticket, or just email us at info@teakisi.com

Do you have your country flag? Bring it with you and represent where you come from. This event is open to anyone with an interest in equality, diversity and the empowerment of African women, BME communities and people of African descent.

***Keynote speakers to be announced at a later date***

Equality North East – the regional organisation for promoting equality, is our main partner for this event.
