Laura Henry Allain MBE will share a much loved JoJo and Gran Gran book; share the story behind the characters; and lead an activity.
Laura Henry Allain MBE will entertain Norfolk’s younger residents with her well known JoJo and Gran Gran books and they will have a chance to learn about the inspirational woman behind the characters. This interactive session will include activities that families will enjoy and there will be a chance to ask Laura about her experiences being part of a ground breaking show; the first UK children’s cartoon with a Black female lead.
Speaker
Laura Henry-Allain MBE is an award-winning international writer, motivational and keynote speaker and consultant. She is the creator of the well-loved CBeebies show JoJo and Gran Gran, of which she is the associate producer.
She is the vice-president of the British Association for Early Childhood Education and an educational consultant for several well-known brands as well as children’s media, television and publishing. Her new bestselling children’s book, My Skin, Your Skin, explores race and racism, and empowers children to be the best versions of themselves.
She started her career more than 30 years ago as an Early Years teacher and has worked in the education, care and health sectors, with children and their families, organisations and governments on a global level. She received an MBE in the New Year Honours list 2021, for services to education.
