Like many Lingua Franca performers, Dominican-born July Julay grew up in a family surrounded by music.
Now settled in Manchester in the UK, July’s vocal expertise has gained him recognition across Latin America and TV and radio performances across the globe. He has established himself as one of the leading European proponents of the traditional Dominican musical genre, Bachata.
His repertoire consists of both self-penned tunes and covers of Latin American dance music, including Merengue and Salsa.
He released his album Sin Ningun Temor in 2009 – one of the best loved albums of Bachata dancers across the world. This was nominated for the first GSD Media & Latin American music awards in UK. July has gone on to perform all over the UK, including at Tottenham Carnival, London’s Carnaval Latino, Streets Ahead, Blue Dot and Kendal Calling.
