BlackFest Festival 2021 Presents Visual Artist Launch: The Work Of Gold Maria Akanbi
Gold is a British-Nigeria, neurodiverse multidisciplinary artist based in both Liverpool and Greater London.
Though in recent times she has been more involved with performance art, her work integrates a wide range of disciplines in order to better explore concepts such as Afrofuturism, the re-conceptualization of worlds, social and environmental ecologies for healing, epigenetic trauma, architecture, spirituality, quantum mechanics, geometric abstraction and sensory overload.
The various disciplines she uses to tackle such concepts take shape in the form of performance art, interactive media, film, photography, poetry, painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, muralism, and installation. Her numerous disciplines act as interdependent ecologies, that are used to create whole worlds.
