Writing Poetry with Belinda Zhawi: Online Workshop

Saturday 2th July

Channel your creativity in this online poetry workshop responding to our Hayward Gallery exhibition In the Black Fantastic, led by writer Belinda Zhawi.

Curated by Ekow Eshun, In the Black Fantastic presents artworks which draw on elements of myth, speculative fiction, spiritual tradition, carnival and folklore, to build what Eshun has described as ‘new narratives of Black possibility’.
This fun, interactive workshop is held on Zoom and is open to writers at any level. It also gives participants the opportunity to share their ideas and writing.

Belinda Zhawi is a writer and sound artist. She is the author of Small Inheritances (ignitionpress, 2018) and South of South East (Bad Betty Press, 2019).

Zhawi is the co-founder of literary arts platform BORN::FREE and experiments with sound and text performance as MA.MOYO. Her work has been broadcast and published on various platforms including The White Review, NTS, Boiler Room and BBC Radio 3, 4 and 6.
