Pioneers History Dance (PHD) returns to Brixton for their third festival taking place across three venues, including Black Cultural Archives, Ritzy Picturehouse and Studio B. This year’s festival offers dancers, artists, academics and enthusiasts a weekend of exposure to exclusive street dance workshops, film screenings, panel discussions, performance and freestyle dance contest and art exhibition. The artist line-up includes Michel ‘Meech’ Onomo, Paradigmz, Omari ‘Motion’ Carter, Rodney P, DJ Devastate, FERO and many more.

Hosted by Jacqueline Shepherd (What’s Up, Sky 1), this exclusive film preview and discussion will be led by UK hip-hop pioneer and film presenter Rodney P, director Ruby Mulraine plus special guest featured in the film. Here, they will discuss the making of this documentary, how it came to fruition and will showcase a 30 minute excerpt from the film – see trailer below. This preview and discussion will then open up to the audience for a Q&A session.

Entrepreneurship in Dance and Hip-Hop panel discussion with Q&A.

Hosted by Jacqueline Shepherd (What’s Up, Sky 1), this panel discussion welcomes three UK entrepreneurs with a wealth of experience and creativity to share. Featuring Bunny Bread, Clara Bajado and Kymberlee Jay, each will discuss their own experiences as freelance artists and business owners, ranging from photography, dance, choreography, merchandise, running a record store, producing events and more. This panel discussion will culminate in a Q&A session with the audience – ideal for anyone looking to start up their own creative business, arts company or venture into the freelance industry.
