An evening with author Tony Fairweather; An enlightening Windrush story

Friday 6 October

Following the launch of the Racial Equity in Policy Network earlier this summer, we are pleased to announce the network’s inaugural meeting which is being held virtually.

We have invited Dr Amber Hewitt, Chief Equity Officer at the Government of the District of Columbia’s Mayor’s Office for Racial Equity to share her experiences as someone who works specifically on racial equity in policy. Dr Hewitt works in collaboration with District leadership and agencies to apply a racial equity lens across government operations in Washington DC, America. As a practitioner herself, Dr Hewitt will speak to the challenges and opportunities of working with a racial equity lens in policy. She will focus particularly on two tools used by her office: Racial Equity Budget Tool and Racial Equity Impact Assessment. There will be an opportunity for questions and answers.

Following the talk from Dr Hewitt, we will discuss what a racial equity lens for policymaking in the North of England looks like with a focus on how we can apply these tools in our roles.

We would love to have you at this event so please register and share with your colleagues.
