Join the Islington Library team for a reading of ‘Making it’ by Jay Blades. Each week we will read chapters from this book and then share our insights at the next reading group.
Jay Blades MBE is a furniture restorer and presenter originally from Hackney. He is best known for presenting The Repair Shop, Money for Nothing and co-presenting Jay and Dom’s Home Fix. ‘Making It is an inspirational memoir about beating the odds and turning things around even when it all seems hopeless. In this book, Jay shares the details of his life, from his childhood growing up sheltered and innocent on a council estate in Hackney, to his adolescence when he was introduced to racism at Highbury Grove secondary school in Islington, to being brutalized by police as a teen, to finally becoming a beloved star of the hit primetime show The Repair Shop.’ We will be giving out a limited number of books. See the link below for e-books and e-audio books including Jay Blade’s ‘Making it’. This is through Borrowbox an Islington Libraries free online resource.
