Guildhall Big Band and tenor saxophone legend Jean Toussaint celebrate Wayne Shorter’s 60s, including a newly arranged suite for Big Band from Shorter’s 1966 album All Seeing Eye.
After releasing several records as leader on Chicago’s Vee-Jay label, Wayne Shorter recorded prolifically for Blue Note in the 1960s, recording and releasing seminal albums including Night Dreamer, Juju, Speak No Evil, Adam’s Apple and Schizophrenia that chart a course from hard bop to avant-garde.
This concert, presented by Guildhall Big Band and featuring tenor saxophonist Jean Toussaint, charts this intense period of creativity and exploration in Shorter’s oeuvre.
