Mica Paris

Wednesday 8 December 2021

The range, power, and sheer soulfulness of Mica Paris’ singing made an immediate impact on the UK music scene in 1988 when she released her debut, the platinum-selling ‘So Good’ from which she had her first top 10 hit ‘You Are My One Temptation’.

More worldwide hit albums and singles followed her debut album including ‘Black Angel’, ‘Stay’ and ‘Carefree’, and she has collaborated with many respected artists such as Prince and Jools Holland leading her to being one of the UK’s most respected female singers with a career that is full of Top 10 hit singles and worldwide albums.

Mica released two tracks produced by Guy Barker to celebrate the centenary of Ella Fitzgerald’s birth. She recorded the two classics ‘Imagine My Frustration’ and ‘Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye’ from the Ella Fitzgerald songbook. The interest and response of these two songs were remarkable and it will be incredible to hear her sing them live.

Mica Paris is one of the UK’s finest and most respected singers, with a long career of hit singles and albums marking her out as the undisputed British Queen Of Soul. Since her first Top 10 Hit in 1988 with My One Temptation, Mica has gone on to release six more albums. Her latest, Gospel, came out to great critical acclaim in December 2020 and shot to No. 1 in the UK R&B Album Charts – it seamlessly weaves together new material, timeless gospel classics, and spellbinding contemporary versions of songs such as Mamma Said, Rag ‘N’ Bone Man’s Human, Foreigner’s I Want To Know What Love Is and Labi Siffre’s (Something Inside) So Strong.

Alongside her stellar singing career, Mica is also much in demand as a writer, presenter, broadcaster and actor, and has become a popular media personality, hosting her own Radio 2 soul show and appearing as a panellist on Loose Women. Her acting career has regularly found her on the West End stage, and she has recently been seen on Albert Square in Eastenders.
