Taking up running can seem like a scary prospect, especially if you feel out of shape or unfit. This is why we have created an initiative called Afrorun to help us tackle these barriers & keep our community fit.
WHAT IS AFRORUN?
Afrorun is a members only running crew that was created by Zaikoh. Afrorun is more than just about running. We are not a charity, cause, or club! We are a family of likeminded people and are committed to building a positive and empowering community that unites black people who want to run and feel the change it brings.
Leave your egos at home! We are a crew and not a club so we look out for each other. If your main concern is how fast you can run, then perhaps Afrorun is not for you.
Afrorun’s aim is to help our members feeling happy, confident and fit.
The biggest challenge when getting into exercise is not knowing how or where to start. Often when trying to get into exercise, we overdo it, feel defeated and give up when we’re just getting started. Afrorun works because we do it together in a group, to gradually build up our fitness and stamina. Afrorun believes that running with others helps to create realistic expectations and makes the challenge feel achievable right from the start.
HOW IT ALL WORKS
MEMBERS ONLY
You must be a member by joining our mail list. Make sure to provide the correct information on the signup form as this is how we will communicate!

SESSION TIME
Sessions are once every other week and start at 10am sharp, lasting for 1 hour
DISTANCE
We do not run on specific distance but instead, towards a destination. Our group leaders will keep a record the distance we ran for those eager to know!
INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO SOMEONE YOU DON’T KNOW
We are a family so make sure to put names to new faces and support one another
COME DRESSED AND READY TO RUN
Make sure to dress accordingly and pack light as we do not run in areas suitable for you to leave your belongings
GROUP ETIQUETTE
You must wear something with Zaikoh’s RGB colours :
Red: If you are an intermediate runner
Green: If you are new to running
Black: If you are a regular confident runner
