Sadness and Sweetness: The Cost of Migration on Windrush Families

Tuesday 13 May

HFCC and the Museum of the Home are hosting a screening of the Windrush documentary Sadness and Sweetness, followed by a panel discussion.

The documentary follows four Hackney residents who spent part of their childhoods being raised by relatives in the Caribbean before reuniting with their parents in Hackney. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Sheba Montserrat, the presenter and producer of the documentary, Dee Buchannan, who is one of the subjects, Michael McMillan, an artist and the curator of the 1976 room at the museum and Abiola Banwo, Consultant Matching Social Worker for Hackney Children’s Social Care.

There will also be delicious Caribbean food served at this event. This event is open to the public, so please bring along any friends who would be interested, especially if you think they might consider fostering for Hackney!

The fostering recruitment team will be on hand to answer any questions about fostering for Hackney.
