The Persecution of the Black Community in Nazi Germany

Thursday 17 October

Using the Wiener Holocaust Library’s collections, Yasmin Gledhill explores the persecution of the Black community in Germany by the Nazi regime, exploring the origins of Black Germany, pre-war experiences in education and daily life and the position of Black people in the Nazi ‘racial’ state.

The talk includes the story of Ronald Roberts, who was born in Wiesbaden to a white German mother and a British/Barbadian father and dictated his memoir towards the end of his life.
