The iconic jazz-funk and R&B band formed as the protégées of legendary trumpeter Donald Byrd.
Following two sold out shows in our home last year, we’re delighted to take this iconic group to Union Chapel.
Assembled from students at Howard University’s music department where the jazz legend was an instructor, they struck musical gold with their eponymous debut in 1973, which featured the stone cold rare groove classic “Do It Fluid”.
Further hits followed with proto-disco hits “Walking in Rhythm” and “Rock Creek Park” taken from their albums Flying Start and City Life respectively, influencing icons Tupac, MF Doom and Nas in the old school US hip hop scene.
Their extensive catalogue of classic cuts and underground hits has seen them garner a new wave of admiration with a BBC Maida Vale session with Gilles Peterson airing this March.
