The Legacy of Windrush: Education and beyond

The NEU is excited to welcome you to attend The Windrush Legacy: education and beyond Conference, held in London on Saturday, 22nd June 2024.

Celebrate with us the contribution of the Windrush generation and the greater role we need for teaching positively about Windrush and migration across the national curriculum.

We are delighted to be joined by Gary Younge, Award-winning Author, Broadcaster and a Professor of Sociology at the University of Manchester, plus other pivotal Windrush activists and speakers inc. Jacqui McKenzie, Mohammed (BLM and Decolonial Centre) and Arthur Torrington (CBE) Address from NEU’s Executive Seat Holder for Black Members: Denise Henry and tribute to Benjamin Zephaniah by a family member.

Workshops on the day include:

1. Teaching Windrush in schools (Windrush Foundation)

2. Dismantling the schools to prison pipeline and identity (Lara Crosbie and NME)

3. Campaign: The fight for justice for Windrush and all migrants

There will be Steelpan entertainment to mark the celebration of Windrush day and close of conference.

If you cancel your ticket by midnight on Friday 14 June , a full refund would be provided. Thereafter no refunds will be provided. We request tickets are not transferred or re-sold. If you are not an NEU member, we reserve the right to cancel your booking and return your ticket price minus the Eventbrite booking fee.
