Camden Black Radicals: Saluting Our Sisters

Monday 16th October

Camden celebrates the lives of Camden women activists.

Human rights lawyer, UN Fellow and presenter Priscellia Robinson celebrates the lives of Camden women activists Claudia Jones, Amy Ashwood Garvey, Una Marson and Eslanda Robeson and their significant work in civil rights, social justice and Pan-Africanism.

This will be followed by an ‘in conversation’ with Robinson and artist Rosa Johan Uddoh, hosted by activist and writer Athian Akec.

Camden has a rich history of social and political activism by people with African and Caribbean heritage. Over this coming year, a series of talks will explore the unique nature of Black radical activism in Camden from the 1770s to the 1970s. The programme will profile the significant impact these individuals had on national and international societies.
