Ama: An African Journey of Discovery, Film Screening

Thursday 19th October

Screened for the first time in 1991, Ama: A Journey of African Discovery was hailed by critics as a stunning and politically significant film on its initial release.

Following the story of a young Ghanaian girl living in London who finds a computer disk containing a message from her ancestors, the plot takes audiences on a gripping journey exploring family ties across generations and geographies – following Ama’s mission to save her family and rediscover her African identity in the process.

Ama received international acclaim on its initial release and its re-release is shaping up to be no different. The premier of the new, updated Director’s cut of the film will be at 2023 New York’s BAM Arts Centre and we are proud to be bringing it to Lambeth this year.
