Open to all Business in the Community (BITC) members and non-members. This event is designed for HR and people management managers/ practitioners, diversity and inclusion managers/practitioners and senior managers.
Background
On 22nd June 1948, the HMT Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks, Kent.
The ship carried people from across various British Commonwealth Caribbean islands who had been invited to work in the UK to help rebuild its infrastructure and to provide services following the devastating impact of the second world war.
This migration was to span twenty years
This event will:
- Recognise the contributions of the Windrush generation as part of the 75th-anniversary celebrations.
- Tell the stories of senior leaders, descended from the Windrush Generation, who have progressed to the top table of key industries in the UK.
- Give practical tips to employers on supporting talent from diverse ethnic backgrounds to progress to senior roles in their organisations.
- Share tips for women and individuals keen to progress within their careers and organisations.
