Windrush NHS Stories: Writing on Belonging with Micah Yongo

Saturday 25th February

Join Micah Yongo for a workshop exploring Memoir and Belonging

Micah Yongo is an acclaimed essayist, and the author of two ancient Africa inspired epic fantasy novels. His debut, Lost Gods, was shortlisted for a British Fantasy award, as well as Starburst Magazine’s inaugural Brave New Words award.

He has taught on creative writing for college students and post graduates, and loves to coach aspiring and active writers alike.

Micah will be delivering a lively and interactive workshop on ‘Storytelling and Memoir’. This workshop will awaken the storytelling talents of those who attend, equipping them to capture and distill their personal experiences (or those of loved ones) into compelling micro biographies, able to engage any audience.

The session will include:

• The foundational tools of great storytelling, and how to use them

• How to recognise the hidden value and power of our experiences

• How to shape personal accounts to impact an audience

Each participant will be inspired and armed with the skills to write a short narrative centred around their own NHS story.
