The Colour of their Money – Falkirk Mansions and their Owners

Wednesday 26th October

Black history month – an illustrated talk by Geoff Bailey on how local people invested money earned on sugar plantations or military service

Falkirk Libraries are pleased to welcome Geoff Bailey of the Falkirk Local History Group to Falkirk Library as part of our Black History Month events.

Geoff Bailey is a renowned local historian, author, archaeologist and until his recent retirement was Falkirk Community Trust’s Heritage Engagement Officer.

At this talk, Geoff will be taking us on an illustrated journey through the historical property ownership of some of Falkirk’s well known historical buildings. This talk will focus on the sources of the income, how monies were invested in Falkirk and the impact of overseas activities on our local area.

This event promises to be a fascinating insight into little discussed or taboo historical information.

Places are limited. Tea and coffee will be provided.
