Video-led presentation by history consultant Kwaku opens event highlighting and celebrating UK African women activists and African women organisations
UK African Women Self-Organising
After last December’s screening, an improved and updated #BTWSCAHR 100mins mashup video highlighting British African women activists, organisations and movements since the 1940s, is available for online screening and discussion in and out of International Women’s Month #IWM #Women #Womanist #History.
African women have been at the forefront of many organisations to push forth either women’s, parents’ or community issues. History consultant Kwaku’s mash up video will highlight a number of women and African women’s organisations over the decades, which goes beyond the usual London-centric focus.
The idea is that attendees will also put forward women and organisations, particularly those based outside London, deserving of recognition and celebration, as will some the special guests in attendance in the meeting.
If you know of any women or organisations that need to be highlighted, particularly those that were or are based outside London, please please email Awula Serwah via btwsc@hotmail.com.
