Black History is World History educational sessions at Central Library every Wednesday Evening in October 6, 13, 20, 27 October 5.30pm -7.30pm (MCC commission) Suitable for 14+
Come along to a series of free workshops which will take you on a whirlwind exploration of black history through the ages. Manchester’s own Black History Educator Linford Sweeney will deliver each session with his unique interactive and discussion-based workshop style in Central Library’s search room – after hours. Each workshop will focus on a particular time period starting from Ancient Africa through to the Windrush Generation and UK Civil Rights. The workshop will provide a good overview of each period with lots of further reading to begin your own Black History journey. Participants can choose to attend any of the sessions as a standalone workshop on that period or can book onto all four.
This session looks at The Windrush Generation and UK Civil Rights.
The other sessions are:
6th October – Ancient African Civilisations and Empires.
13th October – Trade, Enslavement, and Resistance.
20th October – Black British History to 1945.
