Black History Month Magazine is the national magazine for Black History Month 2024 and www.blackhistorymonth.org.uk is the central point of focus and
leads the Nationwide celebration of Black History, Arts and Culture throughout the UK every October.
We will be joined by respected journalists and commentators; scholars and historians; community leaders and artists; who will discuss, debate and remember those who have made a real impact in the story of Black British History in the arts and Culture
Last year’s theme, ‘Saluting our sisters,’ received overwhelmingly positive feedback, showcasing the remarkable achievements and stories of Black women.
Black History Month Magazine
This year’s theme for Black History Month “Reclaiming Narratives,” and marks a significant shift towards recognising and correcting the narratives of Black history and culture. By emphasising “Reclaiming Narratives,” we shine a brighter light on our stories, allegories, and history.
This theme underscores a commitment to correcting historical inaccuracies and showcasing the untold success stories and the full complexity of Black heritage. It’s about taking control of our stories and honouring our heroes while challenging the narratives that have often overlooked the contributions and achievements of Black individuals both in the UK and globally. #ReclaimingNarratives
For Black History Month 2024, we aim to extend our outreach through targeted distribution and engagement across various channels, including major supermarkets, events, collaborations with organisations, community groups, educational institutions, and staffing networks, ensuring broad accessibility and engagement.
Black History Month brings the entire African Caribbean community together, providing a unique opportunity to connect and convey your message effectively. We invite you to join us alongside respected journalists, commentators, scholars, historians, community leaders, and artists, who will engage in insightful discussions, debates, and reflections on those who have made a real impact on our community. Together, we can weave a powerful narrative of black history in the arts and culture.
In 2024, your support is of paramount importance. Alongside our print distribution, we have expanded our online presence through our website, www.blackhistorymonth.org.uk. The online package includes a client user login, enabling your participation in a 12-month online campaign featuring company and community profiles, online recruitment banners, event listings, social media campaigns, recruitment videos, and press coverage. Your involvement will contribute to broad reach and engagement with our audience, making a lasting impact.
Furthermore, we take great pride in introducing the Black History Month Diversity Dashboard. Forward-thinking employers recognise the significance of equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace. By actively seeking to recruit and promote individuals from the Black community, they embrace the unique perspectives, skills, and experiences these individuals bring to their businesses. The Diversity Dashboard serves as a platform where Black History Month Diversity Champions can connect and make a difference in these communities.
