Roundhouse Poetry Slam Final

Thursday 29 July

We are welcoming back live audiences! And what better way is there to celebrate than with the 15th anniversary of the prestigious Roundhouse Poetry Slam Final? You don’t want to miss this as we call on the best in emerging Spoken-Word talent and invite bestselling author Candice Carty-Williams (Queenie), award-winning writer, performer and theatre maker, Travis Alabanza (Burgerz) and poet, playwright, and previous Roundhouse Poetry Slam champion, Zia Ahmed onto the judging panel.

With artists previously going head-to-head in three days of national Heats, now they will put their original work to the test in this chance to win a cash prize as-well-as the coveted title of Slam Champion. Whether you are joining us in person at our iconic main space or tuning in live at home, you will get to cast your own vote and crown our audience winner.

Roundhouse Poetry Slam is one of our most anticipated events, first hitting the stage in 2006 and becoming the heart of The Last Word Festival in 2013. Don’t miss the action if you can’t make it to the event in person; you can watch the live stream direct from the Roundhouse, cheer our finalists on from your sofa and still participate in the vote for audience favourite. Get your ticket to view online and, if you can please do consider donating. The youtube link will be posted here on the night.

Roundhouse Poetry Slam is in partnership with National Theatre Wales, Voice Box, Gloucester Culture Trust and Hull Truck and is generously supported by Colin and Helen David.
