FIX IT – YOUNG BLACK MEN’S MENTAL HEALTH: THE NEXT PANDEMIC

Tue 27 Apr 2021 10.30 am

In March, Centre for Mental Health released a briefing examining young Black men’s mental health during Covid-19. The paper explores evidence of the unequal effects of COVID-19 on young Black men, including insights from the Shifting the Dial partnership.

The Government recently produced a roadmap for the easing of lockdown and next steps for recovery. However, the partnership is concerned that compounding inequalities faced by young Black men are likely to result in a national pandemic response that does not sufficiently address their needs. We need to Fix It.

Please join us for a discussion about our findings and recommendations as part of our Fix It series, Fix It: Young Black Men’s Mental Health: The Next Pandemic? You will have the opportunity to hear from leaders across health, education, local government and from Parliament who will share their views and reflections.

The event will be held on Tuesday 27 April 2021, 10.30am-12pm via Zoom.

This session is open to all, but we would particularly encourage all those who work with young Black men including decision-makers, commissioners, clinicians, teachers, police and youth workers to join us.

About Shifting the Dial: The Shifting the Dial programme is working to boost the mental health of young Black men in Birmingham. The partnership involves Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Centre for Mental Health, First Class Foundation and Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation NHS Trust.
