The city and its diverse and pioneering communities are revealed and celebrated in a dynamic photographic project by artist Liz Johnson Artur.
Johnson Artur’s work reveals the ordinary, vibrant and subtle nuances of South London life, highlighting family, friendship, love and vulnerability in a striking new commission.
In an exhibition full of normality and surprise, we share the experiences of our neighbours Archbishop’s Park Gardening Club, Black Cowboy Coffee, Bookmongers of Brixton, BORN N BREAD, Ebony Horse Club, Effra Hall Tavern, Positive Ageing at Blackfriars Settlement, The Chateau, and others across Lambeth and Southwark.
The exhibition includes photographs displayed on a large scale across the windows of Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall, including rolling projections across the building facade.
