Forgotten Figures:
Celebrating Historical Black Women in Britain from 1300 – Present.
Black SuperSheroesis back again for it’s 2ndart exhibition for Black History Month.
Forgotten Figures is the first of its kind that will solely focus on some of Britain’s Black female trailblazers who made history from Queen Philippa of Hainault to The ‘Wee Papa Girls’. This exhibition aims to acknowledge Black women who are too often ignored/overlooked for their achievements and turn them into SuperShero characters.
Black SuperSheroes is a creative platform and workshop space that works with young children particularly girls to empower and change their mind-set on what makes a supershero compared to what they see on their TV screens. Through our exhibitions and workshops we put girls at the forefront and allow them to be the game changers by letting them create their own supershero character that is a reflection as well as a representation of themselves.
Schools and organisations are very welcome to come along to the exhibition as well as the general public.
Artworks displayed during the exhibition will be from Black SuperSheroes founder Ese Akpojotor and creative designer Lauren Haywood.
