Roads built into this region’s rain-forests open the way for greater levels of exploitation of this forested region’s resources such as bushmeat, timber and minerals. Hunting and the trade in bushmeat can lead to serious viral infections which in turn can cause potential lethal outbreaks such as Ebola which we have now witnessed in W.Africa.
If we are to have a sustainable future we need to coexist and manage our bio-diverse heritage which can be beneficial to local and regional communities.
